Texas Women Bloggers Self Interview Linky

On November 15, the Texas Women Bloggers are having their first get-together in Dallas. We are meeting up for a Girls Night Farm-to-Table Dinner Event. We have some amazing partners for the event and I’m super excited to meet everyone reserving their spot! One of our members, Nicole, suggested we get to know everyone attending before the event. So the Self-Interview link party was re-born (TXWB has done this once before). Here are the questions and my answers…

1. What is your name, blog title, and URL link? (*include a recent photo of yourself too!)

I’m Taylor for those who don’t know and I blog here at this space called Pink Heels Pink Truck (http://pinkheelspinktruck.com)

2. How did you come up with your blog’s title?

When I was rebranding or thinking of rebranding back at the end of 2012, I knew that I wanted to incorporate my love of all things pink. I have 1954 GMC Longbed Pickup truck that will be painted pink just as soon as my hubs car gets back from paint. I kept toying with the idea of Pink Truck Girl but I really wanted that to have a bit more. So one day at lunch with my bestie, we came up with Pink Heels Pink Truck. And I was instantly in love.

3. How long have you been blogging?

I believe since 2010. But the 2nd time around..being full time posting at least 5 days/week…and now 6-7 days/week, since the fall of 2011.

4. When we visit your blog, what can we expect to discover?

You can find #bloggingedumacation tips (blog tips), fashion, #noexcuses fitness workouts, beauty, book reviews, recipes, crafts/diy and cocktails.

5. Share the link to your favorite or most popular blog post(s).
My #beautyforless DIY Face Masks Post is my top post over the last 30 days via Social networks aka Pinterest :)

6. What are three goals you have for your blog next year?
1. Continue growing my community across all social media channels.
2. Work towards earning a full time income by the end of 2015.
3. Speak at 2 blog conferences.

7. Tell us about your family. Are you married or in a relationship? Do you have kids? If so, how many and how old are they? Do you have pets? You know, the usual stuff.
Married for 8 years. No kids. No pets. Work full time on the road.

8. What part of Texas do you call home?

Cleburne

9. How do you make a living?

Petroleum Landman, Used Car Lot Owner, Blogger and Landlord

10. Have you attended blog conferences or social events in the past? If this is your first time, what are you most nervous about?
Yes!!! And I’ve enjoyed ALL of the events I’ve attended…both blog conferences and social events.

11. What are you looking forward to the most at the TWB dinner event?

Meeting everyone and being social!

12. Finally, share your social media links so we can connect online!

YOUR APRIL CO-HOST: CASSIE FROM SOUTHEAST BY MIDWEST

This month’s questions:

1. What are you reading right now? Tell us about it!

2. Divergent, Hunger Games, or Twilight. Which do you prefer and why? (If you’ve never read them which do you think you’d prefer?)

3. TV Series Based on Books they start out very close to the book to draw in the fans but then will start to separate themselves by changing things and adding characters. What are you thoughts on this?

4. You’ve just been recruited to help a movie studio bring your favorite book to the big screen. What’s the movie and who are you choosing to play the main characters?

5. Going back to the above question, do you keep it word for word the same or do you use this chance to change little things you thought would make the book better?

6. After you finish a physical copy of a book do you keep it for a reread, put it on a shelf to collect dust, donate it to Goodwill, or do you just not purchase physical copies of books?

My Answers:
1. What are you reading right now? Tell us about it!
One of those malibu nightsOne of Those Malibu Nights by Elizabeth Adler
Goodreads.com Synopsis:
It was just one of those Malibu nights, dark as a velvet shroud, creamy waves crashing onto the shore, breeze soft as a kitten’s breath….

But when Private Investigator to the stars, Mac Reilly, hears the sound of a woman’s scream over the crashing waves, his low-key beach-bum lifestyle is changed forever. A beautiful, distraught woman wearing only a black lace negligee stands in the doorway of a fabulous beach house. In her hand, a gun, and it’s pointed directly at him.

Mac escapes her bullet, but barely. Who is that woman? Days later she’s disappeared and the Smith & Wesson she almost killed him with finds its way into his car.

Not so coincidentally, Allie Ray, star of the big screen and America’s sweetheart, has also gone missing. The two women are connected, and Mac suddenly finds himself tangled up in a web of deception. He’s going to need some help if he’s going to get to the bottom of it all.

This is where Sunny Alvarez comes in. Sunny and Mac have an on-again, off-again relationship. Lately it’s been more off than on. But now he needs her more than ever. Together they go on a quest that takes them from Southern California, to the beaches of Mexico, to the streets of Rome, and the countryside of France. All the while they’re one step behind an elusive murderer and one step ahead of an actress who wants nothing more than to get lost….

With Elizabeth Adler’s trademark descriptions, plot twists, and irresistible characters, One of Those Malibu Nights is beach-reading suspense at its best.

My Thoughts So Far….I’m hooked.

2. Divergent, Hunger Games, or Twilight. Which do you prefer and why? (If you’ve never read them which do you think you’d prefer?)
Would it be terrible to say none of the above???

3. TV Series Based on Books they start out very close to the book to draw in the fans but then will start to separate themselves by changing things and adding characters. What are you thoughts on this?
In those situations, I wish I either never started watching (because I’ve already read the books) or I never read the books. I get disappointed too easily.

4. You’ve just been recruited to help a movie studio bring your favorite book to the big screen. What’s the movie and who are you choosing to play the main characters?
I’d love to see Night Circus brought to the big screen. Right now I don’t remember the characters well enough to choose who I’d want to play whom. I’d have to re-read the book. Which I would totally do! That was one of our first book club reads over a year ago!

5. Going back to the above question, do you keep it word for word the same or do you use this chance to change little things you thought would make the book better?
I would most likely keep to the book. I’m always disappointed when the movies veer off course.

6. After you finish a physical copy of a book do you keep it for a reread, put it on a shelf to collect dust, donate it to Goodwill, or do you just not purchase physical copies of books?
I keep all the books by my absolute favorites. I pass along the books that I enjoyed to friends who enjoy books just as much as I do. And then all the ones that I wouldn’t necessarily recommend, I sell back. I usually shop at discount book stores anyway so that I’m not out much money on books, so that when I do sell them (if I sell them), I’m not losing out one a whole lot.

Now it’s your turn to link up!

2013 Year in Review

What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before? I started the Texas Women Bloggers community. We are a blogging community of over 385 women bloggers across the state of Texas. Also began planning our debut event, a Girls Night Out Charity Fashion Show and Silent Auction to benefit The Ladder Alliance. It’s going to be an amazing event with Kiki La’Rue hosting the Fashion Show. So excited!!!

Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn’t make any resolutions and I’m not sure if I’ll make any for next year. I think I will set goals for 2014 though.

Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes!! My bestie! And there’s still one on the way who will be making his debut before the year ends (yay Nicole!!)

Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully not this year. I’m so glad because I need a break from people in my family dying.

What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013? Less debt. :)

What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory? I don’t remember the exact date cause I’m terrible with dates but the day the tornado hit my neighborhood in May.

What was your biggest achievement of the year? Creating the Texas Women Bloggers community

What was your biggest failure? I don’t think I had one.

Did you suffer illness or injury? Yes…injured my ankle in a Mud Run in April that is still giving me problems. Sucks to be getting old. ;)

What did you get really, really, really excited about? Texas Women Bloggers!!

What song will always remind you of 2013? I don’t think I have one.

Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder? I guess I’m happier. I don’t remember last year’s feeling so this is hard. LOL
Thinner or fatter? Just the same.
Richer or poorer? Richer cause I have less debt. :)
