YOUR APRIL CO-HOST: CASSIE FROM SOUTHEAST BY MIDWEST

This month’s questions:

1. What are you reading right now? Tell us about it!

2. Divergent, Hunger Games, or Twilight. Which do you prefer and why? (If you’ve never read them which do you think you’d prefer?)

3. TV Series Based on Books they start out very close to the book to draw in the fans but then will start to separate themselves by changing things and adding characters. What are you thoughts on this?

4. You’ve just been recruited to help a movie studio bring your favorite book to the big screen. What’s the movie and who are you choosing to play the main characters?

5. Going back to the above question, do you keep it word for word the same or do you use this chance to change little things you thought would make the book better?

6. After you finish a physical copy of a book do you keep it for a reread, put it on a shelf to collect dust, donate it to Goodwill, or do you just not purchase physical copies of books?

My Answers:
1. What are you reading right now? Tell us about it!
One of those malibu nightsOne of Those Malibu Nights by Elizabeth Adler
Goodreads.com Synopsis:
It was just one of those Malibu nights, dark as a velvet shroud, creamy waves crashing onto the shore, breeze soft as a kitten’s breath….

But when Private Investigator to the stars, Mac Reilly, hears the sound of a woman’s scream over the crashing waves, his low-key beach-bum lifestyle is changed forever. A beautiful, distraught woman wearing only a black lace negligee stands in the doorway of a fabulous beach house. In her hand, a gun, and it’s pointed directly at him.

Mac escapes her bullet, but barely. Who is that woman? Days later she’s disappeared and the Smith & Wesson she almost killed him with finds its way into his car.

Not so coincidentally, Allie Ray, star of the big screen and America’s sweetheart, has also gone missing. The two women are connected, and Mac suddenly finds himself tangled up in a web of deception. He’s going to need some help if he’s going to get to the bottom of it all.

This is where Sunny Alvarez comes in. Sunny and Mac have an on-again, off-again relationship. Lately it’s been more off than on. But now he needs her more than ever. Together they go on a quest that takes them from Southern California, to the beaches of Mexico, to the streets of Rome, and the countryside of France. All the while they’re one step behind an elusive murderer and one step ahead of an actress who wants nothing more than to get lost….

With Elizabeth Adler’s trademark descriptions, plot twists, and irresistible characters, One of Those Malibu Nights is beach-reading suspense at its best.

My Thoughts So Far….I’m hooked.

2. Divergent, Hunger Games, or Twilight. Which do you prefer and why? (If you’ve never read them which do you think you’d prefer?)
Would it be terrible to say none of the above???

3. TV Series Based on Books they start out very close to the book to draw in the fans but then will start to separate themselves by changing things and adding characters. What are you thoughts on this?
In those situations, I wish I either never started watching (because I’ve already read the books) or I never read the books. I get disappointed too easily.

4. You’ve just been recruited to help a movie studio bring your favorite book to the big screen. What’s the movie and who are you choosing to play the main characters?
I’d love to see Night Circus brought to the big screen. Right now I don’t remember the characters well enough to choose who I’d want to play whom. I’d have to re-read the book. Which I would totally do! That was one of our first book club reads over a year ago!

5. Going back to the above question, do you keep it word for word the same or do you use this chance to change little things you thought would make the book better?
I would most likely keep to the book. I’m always disappointed when the movies veer off course.

6. After you finish a physical copy of a book do you keep it for a reread, put it on a shelf to collect dust, donate it to Goodwill, or do you just not purchase physical copies of books?
I keep all the books by my absolute favorites. I pass along the books that I enjoyed to friends who enjoy books just as much as I do. And then all the ones that I wouldn’t necessarily recommend, I sell back. I usually shop at discount book stores anyway so that I’m not out much money on books, so that when I do sell them (if I sell them), I’m not losing out one a whole lot.

Love books, too? Join in on the fun! All you have to do is write a blog post of your own, answering the following questions and link back using the Linky tool below!

This month’s questions:
1) What are you currently reading? Tell us about it!
2) How many books have you read this year? Do you set reading goals for yourself?
3) What do you think are the best and worst book-to-movie/TV show adaptations?
4) What is the first line of your favorite book?
5) What’s your favorite quote from a book?

Here are my answers:
1. What are you currently reading? Tell us about it!
The StorytellerThe Storyteller by Jodi Picoult

Goodreads.com Synopsis:
Sage Singer befriends an old man who’s particularly beloved in her community. Josef Weber is everyone’s favorite retired teacher and Little League coach. They strike up a friendship at the bakery where Sage works. One day he asks Sage for a favor: to kill him. Shocked, Sage refuses…and then he confesses his darkest secret – he deserves to die, because he was a Nazi SS guard. Complicating the matter? Sage’s grandmother is a Holocaust survivor.

What do you do when evil lives next door? Can someone who’s committed a truly heinous act ever atone for it with subsequent good behavior? Should you offer forgiveness to someone if you aren’t the party who was wronged? And most of all – if Sage even considers his request – is it murder, or justice?

My Review: I’m trying to hurry up and finish this book because it’s what we are discussing at our Literary Junkies twitter party chat tonight!! I have to say that I’m loving every moment of it so far.

2) How many books have you read this year? Do you set reading goals for yourself?
I’ve read 44 books so far this year. This is the 2nd year that I’ve set a goal for myself. This year’s goal was 35 books. So yay for beating my goal!! Last year I was a bit overzealous in setting a goal so this year I went a little lower to at least give myself a chance. :)

3) What do you think are the best and worst book-to-movie/TV show adaptations?

Finding the best is super hard because I just don’t ever think the movie versions come anywhere close. The worst: Confessions of a Shopholic comes to my brain first. It was awful compared to the story. I felt like they totally didn’t give you even a hint at who Rebecca Bloomwood was in the book.

4) What is the first line of your favorite book?
“In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I’ve been turning over in my mind ever since.” The Great Gatsby

5) What’s your favorite quote from a book?
I’m not very good at remembering quotes let alone from books that I’ve read. So I’m going to have to say I have no clue on this one.

Now it’s your turn to link up with us!!
